Checkpoint: Styles of Love PSY/265 There are six different styles of love that most people experience in their relationships. The first style of love is romantic love which can be described as a couple who believes that they are a perfect fit for each other. Game playing love, the second of the six styles of love, is more of a promiscuous type of love. Friendship is the third type of love which is a love that is grown from a long lasting friendship. Logical love happens when a person considers their partners potential for life before committing to a relationship. The fifth type of love is possessive; excited love is when a person is completely infatuated with their partner. Finally the sixth type of love is a selfless love which is when a person will do anything to help their lover. Scenario #1 Willie and Patty have known each other since elementary school. They went to school together all the way through high school where they went their separate ways for college. A few years after they finished college and returned to their home town where they got back in touch with each other. After reconnecting for a while their relationship eventually grew into a marriage. This scenario is an example of a friendship style of love. Scenario #2 Johnny was out with friends at a local restaurant/bar. During their night out Johnny saw a girl across the room and immediately decided that he has to meet her. Johnny goes across the room to talk to Angela, who was also out with friends, and they end up having a great conversation. They exchanged phone numbers and after talking for a while they began a relationship. They find out they have a lot in common and end up very happy with each other.
