1. Introduction
Significance of effective clinical teaching, some strategies to motivate staff nurses in conducting quality clinical teaching, and the ways to evaluate the effectiveness of the strategies would be discussed in the paper so as to improve the quality of clinical teaching from the perspective of a ward manager.
Significance of Effective Clinical Teaching
Effective clinical learning is the core of nursing education. The quality of clinical teaching can greatly affect the students’ competency, their personal development and either facilitates or hinders the students’ decision on whether to regard nurses as their lifelong career.
Clinical placement can function as a gap between theory and practice in basic nurse education (McKenna, n.d.). It helps students to develop professional knowledge, clinical nursing skills and attitudes -- the three crucial factors for a competent nurse (Fawcett & McQueen , 1993). It may also arouse their interests in particular specialties. From the economical aspect, it can also reduce turnover rate to cut down the training cost for junior nurses. Since the positive clinical experience can highly can give them job satisfaction and sense of self-actualization.

2. Strategies to Motivate Staff Nurses for Quality Clinical Teaching
Analyzing some possible barriers that demotivate nurses from teaching the juniors can allow us to think of some specific ways to eliminate the underlying demotivators.
a) Barriers Demotivating Clinical Teaching
From the aspect of resources, there is lack of money to expend manpower to be clinical teachers and lack of training courses to equip clinical teachers, so lack of experienced clinical teachers would definitely be a barrier.
