My Process of Writing a Process Essay
Tomorrow is the deadline, I have put it off as long as humanly possible without waiting till the day of and trying to squeeze something out in the fifteen to twenty minutes I have before class starts on Tuesdays and Wednesdays . The only way to avoid getting a zero for this assignment is for me to sit up and write it the night before, even if it means only getting a couple hours of sleep before I have to get up in the morning to go to class for the day. This is not the first time, and it will not be the last time I have found myself in this situation when it comes to writing an essay, or preparing a speech. Even though I have a week or more to plan ahead, my final draft, or my final outline is almost guaranteed to be left until the last possible minute.
I try to get an early start on these days since I know I don’t want to stay up all night watching TV and writing papers….well maybe watching TV but not writing papers. One of the first things I do when I arrive home from my classes on these days is open a word file on my computer. If I have something in mind to write about the subject of my essay or the topic of my speech I will sit down and put it on paper rite then and there, but I won’t sit and stare blankly at my computer trying to come up with something to write. When this happens I will turn on the TV for some background noise and surf the web looking for something to inspire me or just search for what I am trying to write, for instance “process essay” and see what other people have written their process essays about in hope that it will help me write a process essay of my own.
Once I have some kind of start to my paper I will keep going until I run out of words, at which point I will just stop writing, and go make myself some lunch. The whole time I am fixing lunch I keep my topic in mind in hopes of coming up with more filler for my paper. After some lunch and generally a nap that last for an hour...
