What are the most troubling or alarming images associated with the problem? B. Introduce the problem (context) Describe the problem. What group of people might understand or sympathize with this situation? C. Thesis Statement (main-idea sentence) stating proposed solution Paragraph 2: The Problem A. Consider causes and effects of the problem 1. Why does the problem happen? 2. How does it impact society, individuals, etc.? 3. What are the short-term effects? Long-term effects? 4. How does this problem affect the attitudes and other behaviors? 5. How might this problem snowball? 6. What other situation (event or attitude) does this problem resemble? 7. Why is it so important that we address this problem as soon as possible? Paragraph 3: The Solution A. Propose a solution that addresses the problem. What action will BEST address the cause of the problem? B. Discuss why this solution is an ideal solution. How does this solution help the problem or a certain aspect of the problem? C. How can that action or set of actions be implemented? Explain the steps you would take to implement the solution, giving specific examples. Consider these questions: 1.
