Concerns vary from the exposure of children to predators to the loss of production from workers spending too much time online. There is also the complaint of the vulnerability to phishing for personal information and also how it opens up computer systems to virus attacks. On the pro side, there is proof that it is a way to bring friends that have moved out of areas close again, allow families that are spread out across the country to get close and share intimate moments with each other with the click of a mouse button. It helps people communicate worldwide, enhancing peoples live with interaction with other cultures and societies. There is a wide spectrum to why we need social networks and why we should limit their use. Truth be told, the literal Pandora’s Box has been opened and there is no turning back from it. Now, as a society, we need to figure out how to utilize this new media and what rules and regulations should be put into place so as not to limit its use or infringe on first amendment rights. Considering that the use of things like Twitter, Face book, MySpace and others are now being used for political purpose too, there are no limits to where this could lead. We all use some type of social network, whether it is physically interacting on a face to face basis, or through some type electronic media site.
