Over the last 40 years, millions of people have been murdered, yet no one is arrested or convicted. This is because of abortion. It is the termination of a pregnancy by killing an unborn baby. The child’s life is ended, and then removed from the mother’s womb; although abortion is completely legal, it is morally corrupt and should be against the law.
Under any circumstance, abortion is murder. It takes an innocent life, and ends it before it even begins. Contrary to some beliefs, a new life is created the moment of conception, not three months after. After only 49 days, the fetus looks like a small baby, with ears, fingers, and toes. Just one week later, the child fully develops all of its organs (Minnesota Citizens Concerned for Life, 4). In 20 weeks, the baby feels pain, and it can certainly feel the abortion. According to Robert J. White, Medical Director and professor of neurosurgery, at 20 weeks the unborn child “is fully capable of experiencing pain. … Without question, abortion is a dreadfully painful experience for any infant subjected to such a surgical procedure.” (2). Remarkably so, the child inside its mother can feel pain, just like any other person–adult, child, or otherwise. Abortions can affect the women physically, and can cause medical complications later in life. Abortion leads to a higher risk of death the year after it takes place. Likewise, it has been traced to certain cancers, such as liver and ovarian. However, one of the most critical side effects of abortion is experiencing difficulties in later pregnancies. A mother, who was not quite ready to go through pregnancy, may ruin her chances of having children later in life. An abortion puts mothers at risk of complications in pregnancy, which can lead to the mother’s death as well as the baby’s. The physical toll brought on women through abortion is life threatening and unnecessary. A mother should not have to suffer through this pain, and neither should her unborn child....
