Abortion is a procedure that medically removes the fetus or embryo from a mother’s womb. Abortion has been widely speculated as one of the most controversial topics of our time, where several viewpoints have been taken based on morals and ethics. In addition, because of the biased viewpoints on abortion, society has been split into pro-choice and pro-life. Pro-choice is when the mother has the right to give up the child in abortion, as compared to pro-life where the baby has the right to be born. As a pro-choice advocate, I believe a woman has the right to decide what to do with her body and decide whether she wants the child or no without government interference. They believe that woman should have the access to legal and safe abortion where they feel abortion is necessary. (Pro Choice) Pro-life advocates believe that the removal of a fetus kills a human being. It is considered to be murder and any murdering of human life is morally wrong and abortion should not be allowed. Pro-life advocates emphasize the fact that every human has a right to be born and that right should not lie in the hands of others (mother). However, if a woman is not ready to be a parent, but is forced to have one because she has no access to abortion, it will not only affect a woman’s body and personal health, it will also affect the child’s life. If government allows abortion, then both parents’ and children’s lives will be better. For example, according to U.S Teenage Pregnancy Statistics, each year, 750,000 teenage women age between 15-19 get pregnant. (U.S. Teenage Pregnancy Statistics) If these women are not given a choice and are forced to have a baby at such a young age, their future will be ruined. They won’t be able to continue with a normal education and they will have a raise a child at such a young age when they are still children themselves. Most of these children end up in foster homes because teenagers do not know how to take care of children. Up to fifty percent of these teenagers decide to get abortions and continue on with their life as a normal teenager. However, for women in the states such as Mississippi, abortions are not allowed unless it is rape, incest, they have no choice but to have the child, which changes their future forever.
