I chose this topic as I am considering becoming a social worker and feel this contemporary issue will have relevance when I read for my BA Honours Social Work degree at university. I want to include how the media portrays social workers and if that can have a negative influence on public opinion, I will also include examples and personal opinions from questionnaires that are positive and negative in regards to Social workers and Social work. Finally, I want to include previous case studies and evaluate how social workers approached the situations and what action was taken as a preventative measure for the future. I made a list of tasks that would need to be carried out in order for me to complete an unbiased report. One of the several tasks was to create a questionnaire for those that have come in to contact with social workers, whether they were a user of the service or work alongside them.
There is evidence that utilising theoretical models is useful, because it provides structure to reflective practice and simplifies the complex task of reflecting on one's own performance (Turpin and Iwama 2007, p.68). Therefore, for the purpose of this particular assignment Gibbs’ Model of Reflection (Gibbs 1988) appears to be most suitable as it divides the complex reflective process into a number of specific components. Description In order to fulfill the requirements of the module I had to gain some theoretical and practical knowledge regarding the aims and purposes of inter-professional 14003797 education. I also had the opportunity to participate in a few group tasks before starting our specific group assignment of producing a poster which would promote the general theme of teamwork in a health care setting. These group tasks performed during seminars were designed as a fun way of enabling the students to get to now their group members better, gain the insight in our strengths, weaknesses, assets and points of potential development.
In order to be an effective helper and human service professional, one must be open to many different schools of thought. The first theory I have included in my personal model of helping is the Adlerian theory. I feel that having an understanding of the world and other people outside oneself is an important aspect of developing insight regarding how to connect with others and within one's own environment. I also believe family patterns need to be considered, because at times, roles are assigned and "reinforced by societal norms" (Cicirelli, 1994). Patterns need to be considered, because the conditions within a family at times affect behavior development and personality.
Gatsby’s guests admire his Rolls – Royce, his marble swimming pool, his station-wagon and his “corps of caterers” the alliteration of this emphasizes how many caterers Gatsby has. The description of what Gatsby has prepared for the parties he holds shows conspicuous consumption. The repetition of the different types of alcohol Gatsby serves to his guests’ echoes that he is disobeying the law in order to have fun. Since prohibition had started in 1920 and The Great Gatsby was published in 1925 it had been going on for 5 years. “Most of his female guests were too young to know one from another.” This shows that he liked to have young women at his parties and that prohibition had been enforced for a long time.
In labouring to achieving this I will carry on to use the reflection processes often to confirm that I can recognise areas that I need to develop on and areas that I have confident effect on. The self-awareness subject have helped me most in identifying the importance of managing myself in words, thoughts, feelings and action in a group setting because not only are we affected individually but we also can affect other people’s lives in either a helpful or harmful way. Self-awareness has also helped me to identify a strength that I can contribute to the nursing practice group in the future which is that I am a built-up person. I am open to ideas and constructive criticism from colleagues and have the ability to better understand people and offer compensate service of care. Know I am feeling good being in a group work environment whether it is a small group or big group because it always has a purpose to benefit all of the group members and can continuously learn from other people.

A counsellor will experience all of these issues and concerns, and must use the knowledge gained to help their clients overcome their own personal issues.
