Choosing to send your child to a public school or a private school is an important decision to make. There are many things that you have to look into when choosing the appropriate fit, such as costs, academic accreditation, extra-curricular activities and graduation rates to help you as a parent search for the correct fit for your child. In today’s world private schools can be very expensive to send your child to, according to the statistics of Council to American Private Education in 2007-2008 the cost of the school depends on whether the school is a religious school or a non-religious school. The Council to American Private Education said that the average dollar amount for a Catholic school, Other Religious school and Non-Sectarian school for the elementary school years $6,733, for the secondary school years $10,549 and for the schools that offer K-12 an estimated total of $10,045. In most cases if your child would want to become involved on any sports team you would have to pay an additional sports fee which would include uniforms and upkeep of the fields and gymnasiums. Also with many private schools today if you really want your child to go to a private school there are many and vouchers that you can look into applying for such as ones for military dependents and some for families that do not have a whole lot of money. As far as money and tuition goes for public schools, all public schools in the United States are free of charge due to the Taxpayer’s money for the Nurses, Principal’s, Custodial staff, Athletic Coaches and teacher’s salaries and for the field and gymnasium upkeep for sporting events. Taxpayer’s dollars also go to the funding and purchasing of books and teaching equipment as well as the food that the students buy at lunchtime.
