Worship can have various interpretations depending on the religion, culture, and location. This paper will demonstrate that “God has established as a rule the principle that He is to be worshipped according to His own will, as revealed in the Scriptures, and not according to the will or desire of men.” It is through the true worship of Jesus Christ that one can experience joy. This joy can only be attained by fully knowing Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord of one’s life. From the beginning of time God “has established Himself as the object of great worth, praise, adoration and reverence.” Worship can be defined as shachah in Hebrew meaning “to kneel, stoop, prostrate oneself, or throw oneself down in reverence.” In the Greek, the word used for worship is proskuneo, “meaning to express deep respect or adoration-by kissing with words or by bowing down.” The concept of worship has transitioned from century to century and generation to generation. Today in the twenty first century, worship may not be a popular word to our culture, but that doesn’t make it irrelevant.
