Focusing so hard on excelling in English I was having a hard time acknowledging the basic sentence patterens staying devoted I past it. As growing up and still intrigue about learning more english, shockingly there is more that must be learn. Learning the importance of English I gained hobbies, education, and my writting technique. Over the years I have growned and I use English in my everyday life. I enjoy that I was able to learn how to comprehend the words that I was brought upon and use them to my advantage. As I got better understanding English I seem to be amired by books that keep me amazed by the knowledge that I learn from what I have read.
My third difficult was the first time when I saw a book in English here in this country. I remember I could not understand anything in the TV, magazines or newspapers. I think that my ages slow me down in the language process. Age is very important to learn because when you are young the brain is brand new and like a sponge that catches everything. Julia had this advantages and that’s why she learned faster and better than me.
I would like the writer to discuss more ways to get high school students to focus in school and how teachers or parents can help them achieve their goals. The comparison of this essay to my expectations are not very different at all, I agree with everything the writer has to say because education has only been getting worse throughout the years and the way that high school diplomas are just being handed out to seniors is not how it used to be which defeats the whole purpose of even learning. Sherry’s essay helps the readers clearly understand how education for high school students has become insignificant. Overall, Mary Sherry did really well writing this essay by using her thoughts and experiences to help the readers to be more informed on the
63), it states she watched “Three’s Company” in an attempt to learn English. When she was 13, she had to take public transportation to and from school for the first time instead of being driven to her destinations by a chauffeur. The school system was even different as she states “Unlike students in Korea schools, who were taught to bow to teachers at every turn…..” (pg 62) in Queens they barely made eye contact. She also had to learn to do her school work by herself as well has regular house hold chores such as washing clothes. These are some of the changes that she had to make to adjust to her new way of living as a middle class teenager, since she was no longer rich.
She explains how her son’s English teacher with unusual way instead of moving him to front row made him to be more serious about learning and specific English .The result was unbelievable, he finished that class with A grade .First Sherry was shocked when the teacher said “I flunk them” then she realized that would be helpful for her son. There are many styles for teaching which looks not proper for first time then after a while when you understand how that help to improve majority of students grades, you will start to believe that style’s advantage. So now we can say F word which author is used in her essay’s title is “Flunk.” Author explains about students who sadly have no motivation to continue their education and are resentful for passing any test which in their mentality they are already
It was hard to change the way she spoke, especially because she was raised speaking different language. More like anything, she wanted to speak like everyone else. Madera shows how crucial were teachers in her life. During high school years she met great English teacher who asked if she would like to write for the school paper. This gave her hope, possibly, one day she might also be able to talk correctly.
Therefore, my next option would be to critique how staff members treated me, and what other qualities I needed from that school. For instance, prior to attending Rasmussen College I spoke with three different representatives from different schools. One school sounded fine and had all the right things to say but didn’t offer on campus class for me, which is what I wanted in the end so I checked that off the list. The other school tried to persuade to choose a different career path, which annoyed me so I check that off the list, and finally one school took forever to return my calls, to include, I spoke with four different people and each time they sent me to someone else. If you don’t want my business or cant return a call within a decent time I don’t want to associate with that institution because if it came down to financial matters I can only see it getting worse.
Someday, I didn’t even wanted to go to school because my teachers used to use a strong punishment for students who come to class and they’re not prepared. The most difficult part was for me was pronunciation since my major was “English” and we usually don’t practice English in my country except for “ doctors” and “engineering” I had many words that couldn’t even read neither pronounce it. I think that our minds must be area or gap for choice about how to think in order to understand things well as Ho thoughtful about children’s mind in the article 2. Which of Ho’s ideas
Asia Rue English 4 Lesson 13 April 24, 2011 Why I attend Charter school I attended Sweetwater Union High School before enrolling into the Charter School of San Diego. I believe attending this school was the right choice to make to help me, academically. When I was going to Sweetwater, I had low grades, no motivation, and I did not enjoy school for its educational reasons. I was more focused on my social life and friends rather than what was being taught in class. I can also be easily distracted and being in a classroom with thirty of my peers, gave me the freedom to interact with my friends rather than focus on my work.
Fiorella Cedeno Professor Diliberto ENC 1101 June 26, 2013 Essay 1, Rough Draft Draft Literature weather in the English language or Spanish has never been any interest to me what so ever. I find this class to be very difficult and frustrating but at the same time I know this class is important for me and my future. I understand that literature involves everything from watching television to surfing the internet. Even though I hate literature I am very grateful that I was able to learn how to read and write in English and Spanish. When I was a little girl in Peru I use to fight with my parents to go to school.
