Preventive Medicine In our world today, we are faced with many health issues. We are learning to act fast before a mass percentage of the population struggles with sickness, diseases, and bad health in general. Our doctors and hospitals are trying to find ways of preventing sickness, also known as Preventive Medicine. Preventive Medicine could mean washing your hands, by doing this you are killing germs and eliminating your chances of getting sick. Preventive Medicine could also mean watching your calories that you eat, running and exercising, receiving vaccine shots, or even staying away from drugs and alcohol. There are many ways to prevent medicine. This world is filled with bacteria waiting to be stepped in and believe it or not it is much easier to prevent it than to cure it. Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is one of many preventive medicines whether it is taking vitamins, eating your fruits and vegetables, or even exercising. Taking certain vitamins can be a vital key to keeping important organs and joints healthy while also resolving specific health problems. For instance Heart health can be kept by taking Folic Acid, B-12 vitamins, and Omega 3s. Brain health can be kept by also taking B-12 vitamins, Omega 3s, and Zinc. It is also important to consume five servings of fruits and vegetables a day, by doing so you reduce your risk of stroke by 30%. Fruits and vegetables are also lower in calories, fat, saturated fat, and cholesterol, because of this it reduces your risk of heart disease and cancer. Exercise is another way to maintain a healthy lifestyle. Exercise helps prevent heart disease and stroke by improving cholesterol levels, blood flow, and heart function.
