Preventing Children from Making Poor Decisions Most children succeed in life with the help of family members, teachers, and friends around them. Some children choose to go down a troubled path on purpose, some on accident, and others by temptation or peer pressure. There are many adults in a child’s life that can help prevent them from traveling down a troubled path such as choosing to do drugs, skipping school, obeying adults, going around teasing and bullying kids. By helping children set goals and telling them that education is the key to success they might try to make a difference in their lives. The children’s own future is in their hands when growing older because they’ll have to make their own decisions and know values in life. Turning away from poor choices will allow children to have a brighter future. In the movie Rize directed by David LaChapelle we see how children can dance to prevent themselves from heading towards a troubled direction in life. Some children join a group, “The Hip Hop Clowns,” that shows how many children dance to express themselves, their emotions, and their talented side that many don’t know about. Children can prevent themselves from making bad choices such as joining gangs, taking drugs that are illegal, drug dealing, unprotected sex, and drinking alcohol underage, so that they don’t make a mistake that will affect their future. There are many ways that children can prevent this: going to church, joining clubs, attending events and doing extracurricular activities such as sports, dance, and other hobbies. There are many positive options that are available to young children and teens. From the movie Rize, one of the characters says that dancing “brings out the anger in them and shows the positive side.” This is true for some because music can calm many people and help them forget their anger.
