One example is to follow directions in the classroom or anywhere. A teacher may tell a student to take a seat or even get in line; it is predictable for them to follow the rules. A teacher should not ever place hard problematic situations on their students, especially young children. You really cannot imagine children who range the age of seven thru eight to grasp the information as teenagers can do.
Introduction: In this assignment i will be explaining my own views and attitude againt diversity, and how it could impact on work with young children and young people. Assessment Criteria 2.3 In my own opinion everyone has different kinds of opinions and values than to others. When you work with children from a young age. You start to realize that it's not always needed for you to be aware of them. So say if you act out on these attitudes, it could have a bad effect on the children your working with and other children they might know, and you would not want them to copy your own actions in a result.
Gatto uses this example of knowledge to prove his point that not every successful child went to school. A second time Gatto uses exemplification is when he is explaining his own experience in the school system as a teacher. He remembers that “my own experience had revealed to me what many other teachers must learn along the way, too, yet keep to themselves for fear of reprisal: if we wanted to we could easily and inexpensively jettison the old, stupid structures and help kids take an education rather than merely receive a schooling”. He uses this personal lesson from life to convey that children are only obeying what they are being told, only learning what they need to in order to escape the prison called school. In an example from his childhood, Gatto remembers talking with his grandfather and he “complained to him of boredom, and he batted me hard on the head.
If you appear angry and unfriendly, then the child will try to avoid any contact with you or will just stay quiet when you ask them a question. Linked into this attribute would be humour. Children love laughter and it can also help increase their attention span during lessons, as the children will be concentrating on what you say, just in case you say something funny. Building a good relationship with the children also has a serious side as they will begin to feel comfortable coming to you if they have any problems. It could be from issues with their school work, to something more serious and personal.
Disorganized relationships. Disorganized children don’t know what to expect from their parents. Children with relationships in the other categories have organized attachments. This means that they have all learned ways to get what they need, even if it is not the best way. This happens because a child learns to predict how his parent will react, whether it is positive or negative.

He belived that everyone starts at the bottom (physiological) and that no one can progress to the next stage (safety) until they have got the first stage and so forth until they have reached the top. This theory has been used in schools to help lessons as maslow said that students also need to progress through the stages to do well. By this he means those who havnt met their physiological needs (ie being tired in lesson) will not be able to focus in class. Once they have met that they need to feel safe in class so that they can concentrate as they will feel comfortable. They then need to feel accepted by the other students in class, once they feel accepted they can build up their self esteem meaning they can reach the last step of progressing well in their
When talking or listening to children, always maintain eye contact, concentrate on what the child is saying and physically lower yourself to the child’s level. Children always imitate adults’ behaviour, by being a good role model: polite, honest, fair and respectful to children, there is more chance that they will act the same towards you and other adults Fairness allows a child to explain their version of events; however it is important to be consistent in situations, for example, if two children break the same rule it would be unfair to punish one and not the other, this would result in lack of respect from the children. With adults, you can communicate using more complex language. It is important for them to feel comfortable with you, since you are working closely with them. You have to be caring, respect them, be polite, give all the support they need, listen to their views, ask questions on a need to know basis and always try to handle disagreements with adults in a way that will maintain a positive relationship.
I also read to some of the kids that ask to be read to. All in all I try to be a role model as best as I can for these kids in terms of behavior skills, friendship, and leadership as best as I can. Like I said before I was a little hesitant to do this service-learning plan, due to the fact that I do not have much experience interacting and being in an environment with toddlers, and young kids. I feared that I would not be able to connect or have any point of reference in terms of interacting and simply having a good time with the kids. So for this reason of insecurity in myself, I purposefully wanted to go through with this service-learning plan and see how I would fair.
This is where children/young people will be taught that no matter what anyone else says a child/young person’s body is theirs and only theirs. this will help in the short term because it will help give a child/young person the confidence to start saying no and being able to tell someone if they feel their body isn’t just their but someone who is abusing them. It will help in the long run because I the future a child/young person will remember this and know that no one owns their body but them and that means they can avoid abuse, and bad situations where their body is being used by other people.
