Crossed in-between the borders of class, creed, sex and even religious views, drug abuse has cursed mankind in the most unproductive way. Adding to the already existing ways of life poverty, unemployment and overpopulation; drug abuse often leads to crime as a result of reduced impulse control, paranoia and negligence. Affecting individuals, their families and the society as a whole understanding the overview of addiction is not quite the same as understanding what addiction is all about. However, before one can point a figure and blame the welfare on a drug abuser, one should definitely consider in understanding the short term, and long term effects of all types of medication. Medication and the accompanying drug addiction that may come along with it are still not well understood. While until recently it was believed that addiction predominantly involved the behavioral, cognitive and emotional processes it encompasses much more than what the brain wants various to what the body needs. Studies have shown that the neurobiological processes underlying drug addiction primarily have focused on the limbic subcortical structures. Thus meaning drug intoxication, bingeing, withdrawal, and craving is proposed from a modulated two point perspective; mental need and physical need.
