INTRODUCTION: BASIC INFORMATION ON THE PROGRAMME
Welcome to the University of Sunderland and to the Foundation Year. I expect that you are a little anxious about this major step you have taken which may well change your life.
What is it?
This is the same as any of the other degrees offered by the University except first year is spent at the City of Sunderland College rather than the University. This means that the classes are small and more personal. Progression on to Sunderland is guaranteed providing you pass the Foundation Year.
What course can I do at the University?
There are two courses available within the school, which are open to students. This is a list of courses with available places currently offered by the school.

What will I study?
The programme provides a grounding in the Chemistry and related sciences required to study Pharmaceutical Science. The modules to be studied :-
Mathematics / statistics
How will I be assessed on each module?
The assignments are a mixture of presentations, laboratory reports, research essays, fact sheets and projects, all combining as coursework. In additions there will be time-constrained tests which must be passed with a minimum of 40%. The benchmark for passing a module is an overall average result of 40% or greater. The University must agree the results in a Module Assessment Board , students will be informed by posted transcripts following semester 2.
