Sara Henslee Anja Brand English 1301 25 October 2011 Practice Makes Pleasure Many people across the world enjoy participating in social sports. It is a great way to bond with friends and relax after a long day of work. However, if there are no practices involved, chances are your team will not be successful. And as much fun as you may have playing, let’s face it, it is never fun to lose. If teams practice on a regular basis, they may become stronger players, thus bringing them pleasure when they are more successful at their sport. Practicing can help curb anger when a game is unsuccessful. When you lose knowing that you did not practice, you tend to be angrier than if you did practice. Without practice, a player has no way of learning the skill that is needed in a particular sport. When a team or even a player does not know that skill, it can affect the outcome of a game. Regrettably, no one actually prefers to lose. And that leads to disappointment and most times, anger. Most people are competitive by nature, therefore, making them angry when they suffer a loss. Many people think if I would have done this differently, then maybe we could have won or if I would have practiced, maybe I could have hit that ball better. I have personally found that team mates are angrier with a loss when no previous practice had taken place. When practice has occurred beforehand, I hear people say things like, “Hey, at least we tried”. So whether you win or lose, practice brings more pleasure and self-satisfaction to a team. Practicing will make the team more skilled in their sport, giving them the advantage when up against another team. Practice will increase any skill, and practicing as a team is crucial to team sports. Simply said, you cannot practice football or soccer alone and expect it to improve your team as a whole when game time rolls around. Players
