Poverty remain as an acute issue for the world while the people living in the ‘base of the pyramid’ is still showing a significant numbers nowadays. From the personal point of view, I think that poverty is not a fact of life that the poor should embraced as an unchangeable cruel reality. There are absolutely examples that people successfully fight through the poverty circumstances. In fact, much of efforts have been carried out by nations all over the world in order to eradicate the poverty. Policies and strategies has been carried out in order to curb this problem. Through this, we can say that the government have the determinations to help those who are in need – the poor. Studies and researches had also be done in order to investigate the issue. According to Hoang et al. (2014), market economy playing a significant role in reducing poverty. Poverty reduction can be achieved by closer economic integration and higher level of globalization. (Bergh & Nilsson, 2014). Rural diversification can help to alleviate poverty (Hoang et al., 2014). Besides, entrepreneurship act as a pathway to solve poverty by helping them creating their own business (Bruton et al., 2013). Research showed that the poverty problem has shown slow pace improvement through the efforts they performed. So, poverty is absolutely not an irreversible and unavoidable fact of life. The problem for that most of the policies didn’t work successful as expected is that the fact that households and individuals cannot be equated in poverty analysis is still far from being accepted universally. Poor individuals in non-poor households are completely excluded from any policy intervention that targets only on poor households.
