Poverty in Africa using Statistical Data Sociologist does not accept something as fact because “everyone knows it”. Instead they use many different designs and methods to study social behavior and society. Findings are tested by researchers, analyzed in relation to other data, and evaluated with sociological theory, a theory being a set of statements that seeks to explain problems, actions or behavior. A social issue that is prevalent in today’s society is poverty in Africa. There are various research methods which can be used in the study of this particular social issue. However in my opinion, the most suitable research method to be used to obtain factual information on the social issue “poverty in Africa” is that of statistical data. For this research I will be using the Quantitative research method, which is Statistical data being expressed easily using quantity and numbers and statistics being secondary analysis. The use of publicly accessible information is known as secondary analysis, and is most common in situation in which collecting new data is impractical or unnecessary. Therefore the use of historical or library information to generate a hypotheses. Poverty is defined as the state of not having enough money to take care of basic needs such as food, clothing and housing. This is considered to be a social issue and it can only be explained by factors outside an individuals control and immediate social environment which affects many individuals in a society. Some primary factors that may lead to poverty includes, overpopulation this is having large numbers of people with too few resources and too little space, and excessively high population densities, which puts stress on available resources. Only a certain number of people can be supported on a given area of land, and that number depends on how much food and other resources the land can provide. In
