Everywhere you go, poverty can be found. There are families living on the streets because they can’t afford a house. A few families are starving and cold because they lost everything they own in this economic depression. The reason is because rich people won’t spend a few of their dollars to help our economic situation while the poor put forth everything they had. I believe that it would be in the world’s best interest if state governments would hire thieves to steal from the rich and give to the poor.
Either they’re not poor enough, they’re not poor in the right way ‘ or they need the money for the wrong reasons. The reading in the book Keeping Woman and Children Last, showed time and time again the shocking stories of how people fall into poverty after living a middle class life for decades. Reasons pertaining to illness, death, unemployment, divorce and accidents left these people with nothing and the government would refuse to help them. These people are called the “New Poor”(Sidel, 1998, p.60). Their social security and pensions are not enough for them to live on so they must rely on these funds
There are different physiological and psychological effects of poverty that can harm individuals in several ways; When you are poor, you have don't have enough food to satisfy your hunger which can have an effect on your education. Due to the fact that you lack the ability to concentrate, it strongly affects the physical and intellectual growth of children and adults. When you don’t have proper education, you are not able to get a decent job. Even if you do get a job, it would be very long hours, hard work and less money. That can have an effect on your children, your, your partner or anyone that lives with you or depends on
The following are all related to each other in one way or another. Poverty the condition of having little or no money and where people’s basic needs for food, clothing ,and health care to support minimal level of physical health is a serious issue in this country. Hunger, the lack of food and also defined as a painful sensation or state of weakness and a feeling or desire to eat food, or the security of food is another problem. And last homelessness, a person’s lack of permanent housing, have become a problem for many people as we are still in a recession. To live below the poverty line means to not have an acceptable standard of living.
According to Townsend (1979) individuals or families can be said to be in poverty when they lack the resources to obtain the type of diet, participation in the activities that are at least widely encouraged in society. This is termed relative poverty. Absolute poverty occurs when a person’s life falls below a fixed standard, experiences complete destitution and can not meet minimum needs of food and shelter (Townsend, 1979). Gender difference is a significant factor that has caused social exclusion and it could be argued that this exclusion is socially constructed. Firstly although much has improved there still is discrimination and inequalities in the labour market.
Many American people lost their money and their jobs. They were jobless and they were unable to make rents or house payments. Some of them were kicked out of their houses because they couldn’t afford the house. And were homeless living on the street. The causes of the Great depression were when people started loaning money from the bank, and then they would purchase stocks on margin and get profit from it, but people did not make money off of their stock and they owed for the original stock.
Many people did not have money to spend in businesses and businesses also took out loans that needed to be paid back. However, without business they were not making any money resulting in business failure. This also hurt the economy. After the war the price of grain dropped and farmers
It can cause kidney failure, broken bone and muscle tissues, wrong behavior, even death and most likely suicide. It also damages the society and the economy. In other words, people who using Bath Salt will feel separated from the society, depressed and end up unemployed. They can’t work anymore to earn a profit and the government has to pay for their medicines and health insurance. As a result, they don’t just affect themselves but their family and their friends also.
Many mental-health care providers have shut down because of privatization. As a result, many social workers are out of a job. Many social workers have dedicated their jobs to serving and helping extremely ill and disadvantaged people. Privatization will strip away the relationship that these workers have with their clients because they will no longer be committed to working one on one with them any more. Social workers understand the family dynamics and they are working with clients to cope with life and other social problems, but once they privatize these services that relationship becomes damaged.
Losing out on money will make the financial situation even worse. We already have seen sports lose money for supplies and coaches, along with cutting classes because they don’t have a teacher, or even the teachers not getting enough money for the supplies they need to teach classes. Another big problem with this is that we are not allowed to add any additional salt to the food that is bought as low sodium. The flavor of the food has really dropped dramatically, to the point where it is almost uneatable. This is causing kids to throw out food, that they are not getting enough of to begin with, but because of the flavor the kids would rather not eat at all then to eat food that is very bland.
