Poverty And Its Effects In Our World Today Some experts think that the world has too many people, too few jobs, and not enough food. With the economy as poor as it is today, things are not going to get better anytime soon. Sadly, what makes people poor also creates conditions that keep them poor. More than half of this world is poor and it doesn’t have to be that way. The effects of poverty on an individual are many. Losing a job can be one of the causes of poverty. It can cause financial problems, which is one of the disastrous effects of poverty on an individual. Not having money for bills can result in all utilities being shut off. Also, not having money for clothing or food can cause a person to get sick, because of not having warm enough clothes or any food to eat. Not having enough money to make a car payment can result in it being repossessed. Also, not having money for bus fare will leave a person without any way to get around and makes it hard for that person to get back on their feet again. Poverty can also cause many lifestyle changes. Someone could lose their kids because they cannot take care of them and also lose family and friends. Child protective services could come and take away kids because the utilities are shut off and there is no food in the house to feed them. Some people are forced to live in a homeless shelter after receiving eviction notices from their landlord. Becoming homeless is a major effect of poverty on an individual. Living in poverty changes every part of life as it was. Future issues poverty has on an individual are a person living in poverty cannot get a job because most employers tend to not want to hire a homeless person.
