Potential Impact of IPAD in Education The IPAD is a revolutionary technical device that is bound to change lifestyles; not the least education. It is common believe that the IPAD will definitely impact on the use of text books, note taking and studying in schools, colleges and universities. Environmentally, we would have more paperless classroom. This device will likely enhance the interest level of students as they are well able to multi-task, while developing their psychomotor and other skills. A student said the idea of IPAD in the classroom is ‘awesome and fun learning’. It is a useful tool for reviewing class materials. Cost saving options could be derived from the use of the IPAD as schools could subscribe and pay for text books and install them on the IPAD for students’ use. This would reduce clutter, as rather than carry tons of text books which could be cumbersome, the student only need to carry a 1.5 pounds and 0.5 inch portable gadget that can fit into a coat pocket. Students may not have to worry about the loss and painful search for text books or be liable for library fines for late returns of books. It could mean the death of libraries and bookstores. Why buy or borrow when you can get it all on the IPAD. Students would be better able to manage their educational resources all stored up in a simple device. Schools should be able to create an individualized curriculum for students. With its own software development kit, inexpensive educational application software could be developed and tailored to the needs of the schools and the individual student. The present cuts in educational funding makes the resource of free and affordable software on the App Store more than valuable.
