The television is the most popular and recognized form of media since the early 1930's and nearly all homes own at least 1. It is considered now an abnormality not to own. It integrated radio and picture motion to display a wide range of programs, spanning from documentaries and world news childish commodes. It really is hard to imagine a life without it, meaning that we are so addicted to it that we cannot survive without it. What has society become? People are spending more and more time watching television programs just of the sake of watching. Another disadvantage is that we are so immersed in it that socialization and outdoor sports comes second. Another on society's lips are the increasing amount of obesity among people and the TV portrays certain issues that need to be dealt with carefully. On news and current affair programs, presenters are very racist and bias against certain people. Many people do not realize the amount of time they spend watching television. If you spend just one hours day watching television, 365 hours in one year and 3652 in ten years. One can only imagine what could be done with that vast amount of time, learn a language, a university course, the sky is the limit. Television is so addictive that many people waste their lives watching useless garbage programs, instead of going outside, playing sports and even socializingw. Boston university president Dr.Daniel L Marsh predicted, "If the (television) craze continues with the present level of programs, we are destined to have a nation of morons. One of the biggest ill effects of television is that it has contributed to increasing obesity among people. While watching television people tend to consume large amounts of unhealthy food items such as chips and soft drinks. Television is promoting the sedentary lifestyle that people follow and this in turn has contributed to obesity.
