The health service is fundamental for the public, without the health service the majority of the public wouldn’t be able to be healthy and pro long their lifetime. With the health service many people are impacted positively every day. As well as helping the public it also helps the conservatives as they get votes from the older generation because the older generation need hospitals because as they grow old they need the health service much more. This is known as the grey vote and is essential for the conservatives if they want to win the general election. The conservative
There weren’t antibiotics and other ways to help cure these illnesses, and the ways they did have weren’t effective enough to stop people dying. In addition there are massive heath care services available today which weren’t available in 1900 to help ill or diseased people such as the National Health Service (NHS). Another reason is that the standard of living in 1900 may have had an impact on the death rate. Many people had large families to provide for and they usually lived in small houses that may not be fit for the amount of people living in them. Today, the family size has decreased and this has stopped the deaths in the family as illnesses and diseases aren’t transmitted to one another quickly as they live together in a more fit environment.
The term “Universal Healthcare” refers to equal health coverage for all residents of a nation “funded by the government under [a] single-payer system” (Cummings). The United States currently does not utilize universal healthcare; its health insurance is provided mainly through employers and by private companies. This consumer-driven system is harmful to the residents of the United States who are unemployed and cannot afford expensive private insurance. It also facilitates the need for welfare and, even then, those on public assistance receive a lower quality of care. Universal Healthcare would lower the mortality rate in the United States by solving the problem of the uninsured and the underinsured, as well as halt rising healthcare costs in the U.S.
America has their reservations that a universal health may not work because of its lack of choices and freedoms. There are pros and cons to having a universal health care system. For one, a universal health care offers free health services to people that cannot afford health care the services they need. The cons, is that a universal health care system often results in long wait times for patients and not everyone may receive the type of care that they need. The rising cost of health care has cause the government to step in and control regulations and spending; thus creating a health care reform system.

This may prevent them from seeing a doctor when problems occur. Often, these people wait too long to get the problem checked out. Some examples that would cause them to seek help might be pain that too great for them to bear or a sore on the leg that turns black and has not healed after many weeks. This is just one reason that people who have money may not go to the doctor. Another is that they may feel, and sometimes rightly so, that there is a disparity in the care that poor people receive compared to that of middle to upper income patients.
The Conservative party of time accepted this but argued that the general improvement of national health was more important than the the difference in health between social classes, but their opposition, Labour disagreed, arguing that it was more important to narrow this gap than to worry about the general improvement in health .Both are important issues to consider. For example, in 2001, 18.5% of people of a lower socio-economic status were in “poor health”, in comparison to only 3.4% of people in higher managerial or professional occupation. This clearly indicates a link but whether ill-health is directly because of a particular individual's income is debatable. As aforementioned, other factors play a role in health inequalities, for example race. Bangladeshi and Pakistani men and women are 4 times more likely than the general population to describe their health as poor.
There has been many debates to weather doctors should be able to refuse lazy/old patients expensive treatments as they are not beating their habits, so why should doctors have to give these patients the treatment when they are not making the effort to get their body in a fitter, healthier state, and there is people out there desperate for surgery who have made the effort to be in shape and they can’t get the surgery because it is too expensive, but on the otherwise, why should these people have to suffer without help? In hospitals all over the world there are smokers, overweight people and alcoholics receiving the same treatment as other patients that are healthier and choose not to harm their bodies by using harmful substances, which I personally think is an absolute disgrace. As these people who abuse their bodies have the same “right” to these expensive treatments even though some of the substances they choose to eat, drink or inhale cause damage, disease and infections within the human body, and not enough is been done about it. People that work for the telegraph would agree as on their website it states "Smokers, heavy drinkers, the obese and the elderly should be barred from receiving some operations, according to doctors, with most saying the health service cannot afford to provide free care to everyone." - this information can be found on -http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/1576704/Dont-treat-the-old-and-unhealthy-say-doctors.html Some doctors say old people may not be healthy enough to survive operations and could be life threatening and doctors are allowed to discriminate old people if they think they really need the operations to cure/help them, however the National Institute of Clinical Excellence (NICE) says "doctors must not discriminate against patients who have brought their illnesses upon themselves.
Poor health is both a cause and a result of homelessness (National Health Care for the Homeless Council,2008). Inadequate health insurance is itself a cause for homelessness (National Health Care for the Homeless Council,2008).Many people without health insurance have low incomes and do not have the resources to pay for health services on their own. A serious injury or illness in the family could result in
with all of its technology and high industrial development is still lacking to provide all its citizens health services. The health care system in the U.S. has major faults that affect both patients and physicians. Many Americans lack health insurance, and cannot be seen by a physician routinely. There is a shortage of physicians due to the cost of medical school and of malpractice insurance. In order to provide free education for medical students, malpractice insurance for physicians, and free health care for everyone, taxes need to be raised.
