Advertising Synthesis Essay The growth of media has paved the way for numerous outlets for advertising. Millions of people reading magazines, watching TV, listening to the radio and surfing the web are constantly bombarded with ads for different products or services. Although the creation of media has given us great power and knowledge, we see its consequences in our personal lives and in society as a whole. Advertising has altered the perception of wants versus needs, which has led to a significant change of the economy and its consumer capital. Whether many would prefer to admit or not, advertising has changed society- modifying the way Americans think and act in today's day and age, though not entirely for the better.
Popular music has constantly been seen as a vital social impact in various ways. The relationship between popular music and politics is connected along two different dimensions. In the widest sense the first If we stick with the definition that popular music has wide appeal and mass distribution, then the history really begins with the publication of sheet music — this makes pop music another media form that owes its origins to Gutenberg's printing press. Printed sheet music allowed individuals who were not the original composer of a song (or a musician lucky enough to be given a hand-copied version of the original score) to take away the music, and perform it to the audience of their choice. Songs could cross from city to city, country to country, enjoyed and played by large numbers of people at the same time.
The list is endless for the amount of information transported into our homes every day, changing the way people live and react to life situations It also began to homogenize tastes, styles, and points of view among different groups in the United States. Class and ethnic distinctions in American culture began to fade as mass media transmitted movies and music to people throughout the United States. Some people criticized the growing uniformity of mass culture for lowering the general standard of taste, since mass media sought to please the largest number of people by appealing to simpler rather than more complex tastes. However, culture became more democratic as modern technology and mass media allowed it to reach more people. To demonstrate, “consumers are exposed to a lot more these days with their food channel and food blogs”(Jargon). This shows that fast food restaurants uses fresh food than canned food. This is important because fresh foods are better than canned food. Moreover, the articles tells us that, “Yum’s U.S. business notched a 6% increase in same-store in the third quarter ended Sept. 8, driven by Taco Bell”(Jargon). This proves that 13% gain in same-store sales.
The situation is very ironic because the grocery stores with nutritious food advocates for fast food restaurants that are, in context, competing with their sales. Prices of fast food products appear cheaper than full home cooked meals. On average, costumers pay four dollars for a drink, a burger, and a side item. Additionally, fast food is fast. Each fast food corporation has special procedures to keep their paying costumers happy by giving them exactly what they asked for, fast food.
Since before my time, media has had a huge impact on American culture. Without people even realizing it, because people are so caught up in the changes they are blinded, by them. There are a lot of people that wouldn’t even considering the good in media, they just rather look at all the bad; and would dare use any source of media. Media can easily play the good role as well as the bad role. It just depends what side best fits you.
Mass media uses these technologies on a daily bases for a number of functions. Today radio reaches mass and diverse audiences. Radio is not just reserved for radio players or car speakers. Many people use the music app Pandora which allows listeners to personalize their radio station according to their taste in music This music app, Pandora was invented by Time Westergren. Some facets of “process philosophy” that has impacted American government and society include some educational, economical, legislation, family and marriage, and civil right shifts. There are many other things that have shaped the American government when it comes to “process philosophy”, however the educational shifts is what I have chosen to discuss in this paper.
