They can quickly fall behind from peers of the same age. They may find it difficult to interact and make friends with others who are more advanced. But during this economic recession, college students have been having a difficult time staying in the college path, especially working class students. The lack of moral support from their families prevents these unfortunate students to finish their college education. The increase of college tuition and limited financial aid are causing students to go into debt, making them hesitant whether they should keep studying or not. Also it’s preventing students from picking needed major but because the low paycheck they are not sure if they will be able to be sustained. But college drop outs also can able be due to the unequal college preparation given in high schools.
Starting a new school – This could make the child or young person feel nervous because they have to make new friends and could make the child feel anxious because they don’t know what will happen. This could also make the child become shy or dismissive or even anxious. Identify transitions that only some children and young people may experience. Transitions experienced by only some children and young people include: Diagnosis of a disability – This could make the child or young person feel jealousy because he/she may feel different, this could also make the child act unusual such as being dismissive. Divorce – This could make the child or young person feel frustrated, confused because the child or young person may not be seeing one parent as much as before, this could also make the child act unusual such as becoming withdrawn and being argumentative with parents.
Studies show that students who are over-age for their class was held back a grade level. Not completing assignments, late work, or just missing class led up to being held back a grade. Many different factors can influence their reason for their attitude. Some could simply not care and it was either school or jail. Some could be new students and upset about a move so they just won’t show effort. Out of all the types of students, these students are the most mysterious because their effort doesn’t necessarily show what type of person they really are. From a social stand point, this type of student could be bullied, have conflicts at home, or be influenced by some other outside force.
Should colleges provide on-site daycare facilities for their students? Many people who go to college find it very difficult to get good day care service for their children. Many students have one to three small children who are below the public school age and must have constant care. I find to assist students with childcare issues; colleges should provide on-site daycare facilities for their students. If colleges provide on-site daycare facilities for their students it will allow them to concentrate fully on their work, reduce the number of students missing class or absenteeism, and retention rates will increase or the dropout rate will reduce.
If this is the case the child could start to under achieve and decide to not concentrate as hard on their school work. Doing this may also cause the child to act out in their class and disrupt other children’s learning, as the teacher needs to take time out of the scheduled lesson to tell the child their behaviour is unacceptable. There are some major problems with using them. Students with high I.Q’s are expected to do better than the rest of their class, and on the flip side students with low I.Q.’s are expected to do worse.
