Two topics on corruption stood out to me. They are sport and politics/government. The first and most personal reason I chose sports is because when I am an athlete. This made corruption in the sports industry interesting to me. When it comes to corruption in politics and government, I feel as though it is important to know what goes on with the government and politics. In my reading I have learned that when it comes to the public and their needs, we are put second verses the people that fund the politicians. Their primary focus is to make the funders happy first, then all else falls in line. “This is especially common in countries where democratic institutions are weak or absent”, says a writer from Transparency International. With this being done the trust for politicians has come to a low point, meaning that we do not trust them. In asking myself, what can be done about the corruption of politicians and governments, all we can do is call them out publicly on what they promised us before elections and question them to why nothing is being fulfilled. Prayerfully we can make a change but we must first be willing to change ourselves. When it comes to sports corruption I must say that I really didn’t even think it existed until I read the passage. I have learned that corruption in this business comes in many forms. Corruption starts with the refs and can go all the way down to the players. After reading this article I realized that this does happen all the time. Many coaches try to either pay the ref to call a game in the favor of their team. Others try to bribe players to either come play for them or either help their team loose. The way this is done is, they give the player some cash and they also give the ref some extra cash if they are going to fulfill the coach’s wishes. This can be put to a stop though. All we as a people have to do is be more open when it comes
