“Forgotten Patriots who Supported American Struggle for Independence-Polly Cooper We don’t really hear about strong women in the revolutionary war….Polly cooper was one woman who showed courage and generosity…..she was from the Oneida nation. Born February 23rd 1700 in Hardin County Kentucky. She was the first born of Isaiah an Elizabeth Montier Cooper According to the Oneida oral tradition, Polly cooper was a member of the relief mission organized by chief Shenendoah, who sent a party of Oneidas with hundreds of bushels of corn to help feed General George Washington’s starving troops in the harsh winter of 1777-1778. The relief party walked for more than 400 miles from Central New York to Valley Forge in bitter cold weather. The corn that they brought was white corn ( about 600 bushels of it) and quite different from yellow corn that can be prepared easily. On the other hand white corn, the kind grown by the Oneida people requires long preparation before it can be eaten. But the American…show more content…
The term hero is really subjective but at the meaning of it all there is one important quality among all heroes is that they’re always willing and striving to do what the man/women is not for the sake of someone or something outside of themselves that they accomplish the goal or not. Sometimes the fight alone, doesn’t matter if it’s lost or won ; makes the hero. A hero is a person that does what is right. Heroes sacrifice personal comfort and gain for others, a hero would give their own life for others. There are heroes all around us although we may not recognize them as much we need to take time out of heart to do just that more
