The neighborhood watch program has brought us closer as a unit and is helping us achieve the ultimate goal of one day being crime free. We chose to use a peacemaking design for our neighborhood watch. We realize that the citizens of our neighborhood are not law enforcement and we do not have the resources or training that our local law enforcement does. By ensuring that we offer a more nontraditional approach to retribution of the offenders, we have a lower percentage of reoccurring offenders. By dealing with the offenders through communication and education, we set ourselves apart from the local law enforcement.
West Virginia Chemical Spill Effecting Our Environment Industrialization has greatly impacted our Earth. In the article Federal Grand Jury Investigates West Virginia Chemical Spill, the authors, Drew Griffin and David Fitzpatrick, emphasize the damage the chemical spill did to our planet. Many people were left with no water to use and the environment was greatly damaged by the spill. Chemical plants allow our society to develop some service such as water, electricity or disposal services. Offering work programs that help prepare young people for management or skilled positions is a good way to take crime off of the streets while showing to the community that the business cares about the welfare of the population. This can help bring in a group of potential profit earners for the company while at the same time reducing crime in the stores and the surrounding neighborhood. The improved reputation could only serve to bring in shoppers who are more prone to visit the larger and cheaper chains such as Walmart. While this will incur immediate liability costs as the plan is enacted, the end result benefiting the shareholders is a cheaply trained future leadership staff, an improved reputation for the company as a whole, and a long term boost in
It contributes roughly 30% of the world's sum of coal each year. Australia's coal is marketed all over the world, principally for the Asian economy (44% of Australia's coal is exported to Japan.) Without coal our economy would be devastated. The result would be unemployment, electricity price increases, collapse of consumption, economy and related industries etc, resulting in an entirely new way of life. 1b)Coal is a fossil fuel, which means when it is burnt it releases unwanted pollutants which have a negative and harmful impact on our environment.

Some aspects of climate change may already be irreversible. Yet many scientists believe that by taking positive action now, it is possible to slow the pace of climate change and reduce further global warming. Changing our lifestyle and our behaviour will help reduce the human impact on the environment. Driving a car, using electricity to light and heat your home, and throwing away garbage all lead to greenhouse gas emissions. You can reduce emissions through simple actions like changing a light bulb, powering down electronics, using less water, and recycling.
With the current population in the United States being 307,898,367 (U.S. Census Bureau), this means Americans throw away 449,531,615,820 pounds of trash a year. If Americans are producing this much trash, where are they putting it all? They’re piling it up in landfills. According to the article, “Landfills: Hazardous to the Environment,” the United States has 3,091 landfills in use right now as well as over 10,000 landfills that are not in use (par. 1).

Contaminating these waters will not only harm the wildlife, but it will kill a source of food that is so dominant in Newfoundland, and also will harm hundreds of people’s jobs. Oil spills cause a lot of problems in our ocean and to our marine life. Everywhere you look people are trying to create a more sustainable ocean, and this is hard to do when there is so much pollution and threats to our environment all around us. We, as youth need to step up and try to make a change and help to make our province a better place. We can help thousands of animals survive by taking action against oil drilling in our
Some of the major negative economic effects of natural gas drilling are the enormous amounts of pollutants released into our water sources. With estimates coming close to 50 trillion cubic feet of natural gas sitting in the Marcellus, it’s no wonder companies are willing to drill at any cost to the local water systems and communities. In other words, there is conservatively two trillion dollars in nature gas reserves sitting right under us. The problem with fracking is being able to find an economical and environmentally friendly way to dispose of the waste water. There are approximately thirteen treatment plants used to deal with the waste water that is accumulated by the massive fracking operations all over the state.
