Political Socialization and Opinions In this essay I will be discuss the ways people form their personal opinions about politics. There are numerous ways the population can form their mind to think and believe what they want to about politics and the government in today’s society. Throughout the essay I will be asking several relevant questions to the topic I am discussing such as: how do we acquire our political values and beliefs, what major source of news do you rely on and how does that influence your opinions, how closely do your political beliefs correspond with that of your parents, etc. Political values and beliefs are acquired through several sources. Family values of our parents are the basis for our political opinions. As we experience life, these opinions are reinforced or found in opposition of our core beliefs. Our relatives, siblings, friends all contribute to our beliefs. For those whose parents are deep into politics, there kids from generation to generation pass on their beliefs and ideas of the political world. Individuals typically look for guidance from their parents or guardians for this kind of information. Most people believe that a majority of people follow their parent’s footsteps in their own political beliefs. Having your parent’s influence you about everything while you’re growing up, you tend to follow the pattern with your political beliefs. On my personal behalf, I agree with and follow the Republican Party. This belief was instilled into my head during the Bush era. Are there values or beliefs that differ than that of your parents? My beliefs remain to be the same as my parents. As I get older, I am sure we will come across several differences in our political opinions. This is almost guaranteed because coming from two different generations there will be changes needed to be made to protect my generation when in return
