As the economy began to improve in the early nineteen-twenties, Canada prepared for one of the greatest booms of all time. The various political changes, innovations, and fads enriched and developed the nation. Canada partook in great political advancements, which enforced new laws, and advocated a new way of living. Women fighting for their rights, prohibition laws being put intact and modern education for children civilizing achieved this. Moreover, as the economy began to improve, industries boomed, revolutionizing businesses. With the invention of the automobile, natural resources overflowing, and stocks increasing, the financial state of Canada advanced. Ultimately, social affairs erupted triggering the start of a new entertainment era.…show more content…
Determined, Murphy took the case to the Privy.Council of England, who overruled the decision of the court and sided with the women. It is due to the struggles and determination of the women in the nineteen-twenties that women today are seen with the same respect and value as men. In addition to the countless achievements of women, Prohibition played a big part in the forming of Canada. Prohibition is a law that restricts the manufacturing, transportation, sale, and drinking of alcoholic beverages. Prohibition began on January 16th, 1920 for war purposes to conserve grain and show patriotism. After the war however, the United States decided not to eliminate this law because they thought it would lower crime and corruption rates, reduce social problems, and improve overall health care. As a result of this, certain Canadians began, “rum-running,” to the United States, and began to benefit from this illegal trade.
