The fast-food industry is a variety of different chains of restaurants. These restaurants serve all different types of food at a speedy pace to everyday America. The kids are home from school, mom or dad just got out of work, and there is no time to cook dinner. The quickest and most convenient thing to do is to get food from their favorite fast-food chain. The book Fast Food Nation would open the eyes of most Americans to behind the scene of fast food. The type of workers they employ, and how the government is connected to the industry. The workers of the fast-food industry are treated with bad ethics. The fast-food industry likes to hire young, poor, and handicap people. They hire teenagers because they live at home and do not have any expenses, therefore, they work for less money. The fast-food industry hires poor people because they need the job, to earn money. Furthermore, they hire the handicap because the fast-food industry feels they cannot work in an office or any job with skills. The fast-food industry spends more on the development of equipment to deskill a job, just so it does not have to train their workers. This way, it makes it easier for the worker to be replaced. Most of the fast-food chains have an automated assembly line system in their kitchens. The corporations of the fast-food industry have worked against having unions their franchises. The fast-food companies would send in a team of corporate executives to have what they call a stroking session if they thought you were trying to bring in the union. They now they would have to pay higher wages. Furthermore, they have at will workers to replace when needed. The typical fast food worker quits or is fired every three to four months.
