“The Raven” by Edgar Allen Poe is a poem that was written during the Romantic period. It was a story of a young man mourning over the loss of his love, Lenore. he kept hearing a "rapping at his chamber door" at first when he goes and investigates theres nothing there But when the noise arises again, he goes to check and it is a Raven, who just sits “On a bust of Pallas above the door”. “The Raven”, you can see that Poe was putting emphasis on awe, as the narrator was amazed by the Raven at first. “But the raven, sitting lonely on the placid bust, spoke only, That one word, as if his soul in that one word he did outpour. Nothing further then he uttered - not a feather then he fluttered - Till I scarcely more than muttered `Other friends have flown before - On the morrow he will leave me, as my hopes have flown before.' Then the bird said, `Nevermore.'” The Story Of An Hour” by Kate Chopin is a short story that was written in 1894.depicts a young woman named Mrs. Louise Mallard. She is introduced as being “afflicted with heart trouble”. Because of her heart troubles, her sister Josephine had to be very careful when telling Louise of her husband's death. she locked herself in her room to cope with the loss of her huband.
