IRONICAL FAIRY TALE A fairy tale is a type of short story that typically features folkloric fantasy characters, such as fairies, goblins, elves, trolls, dwarves, giants, mermaids, or gnomes, and usually magic or enchantments. It is also used to describe something blessed with unusual happiness, as in "fairy tale ending" (a happy ending) .It is something unrealistic and mystical. Some traits that help you figure out that it’s a fairytale is • once upon a time/ happily ever after • good vs. evil • good wins • talking animals • mystical creature • magic • bad usually punished • prince or princess Whereas, a modern fairy tale is usually for adults. In this there is no happy ending or fairy tale ending. There is happiness in the starting and the end is ironical and not happily ever after. It ends with a bad or sad ending. In the story once upon a time we see that the family is a happy family with husband wife and their son and pet dog. As the story unveils we see that the family is getting disturbed due to the ongoing activities outside. To protect their house and the family members they install DRAGONS TEETH. But unfortunately their only son tries to act as a prince of a fairy tale, his mother had read to him the night before. And in this act he gets caught in the dragon’s teeth and dies. This way the story establishes itself as a modern fairytale where there is no happy ending. The evil wins. There is no fairy or god mother or mystical creatures who come to save the child.
