High school dropouts have fewer opportunities in life because of their lack of education. While we are occupied on our potential threat being the gun in the class room, we miss the opportunity to learn what our teacher had planned for the day. Missing enough of the lectures leads to low test scores and the though of dropping out. Dropouts will have fewer chances at being accepted into college universities. Universities favor grade point averages, high standardized test scores, advanced placement courses, and any other reflection of above average education.

Many people argue that development is vital in the younger years in the child’s life, and the ability to solve problems and apply ideas help in the long-term. Hyman argues that the lower classes create a self imposed barrier to learning their values. This is because he believes that they have a low value on education, with a ‘play safe’ culture and also a low level of self belief. This would all impact on the child performance at school as they would not have the attitude needed to progress. If at any point they failed, they would see this as a big mistake and give up and have a lack of motivation.
Should Students Be Paid to Gain an Education? Kids should not expect to earn money to receive an education they are fortunate to have. In the New York Times article “Rewards for Students Under a Microscope” Lisa Guernsey explains that “Research suggests that rewards may work in the short term, but have damaging effects in the long term.” Children are clearly motivated for short periods of time which does not address long term educational needs and goals. In my opinion as a student I do not think we should be paid to go to school, because for hundreds of years kids have had the honor and expectation to learn. As technology advances, it seems students are becoming lazy, and losing interest in the opportunity for an education.

Appeal to Popular Opinion by saying “kids are taking spots at universities that they may, in fact, have little to no interest in.” How can afford to go to a university that will cost at least 30K to graduate just because they don’t like it? He mentions that’s X amount of Y students got accepted into a particular college, but doesn’t talk about how many percentage of Y actually meet the requirements of their “dream”
The Murk of Failure ITT Technical Institute (also known as ITT Tech) is clouding Information Technology field with unqualified graduates by giving students a false sense of security, burying students in debt, and hindering the learning potential of students by employing instructors who are often unqualified to teach the curriculum . One of the ways this “clouding” happens, is by giving students a false sense of security. This inflated perception of competence comes from ITT Tech speeding through the courses in an attempt to hurry students through toward graduation . Most graduates only retain a fraction of the information they learned. This is especially detrimental because the information the graduates were presented with was incomplete and poorly composed .
Mark Edmundson’s “on the uses of a liberal education” displays how corrupt the current education system is. He raises problems of consumerism in colleges and also indicates that college’s students lack intellectual curiosity. The multiple choices student have today in college have made the college a facile learning environment, resulting in complacent students. He ridicules the fact that students can withdraw from classes with a one month left in semester. In the beginning of the text, Edmundson depicts a classroom he particularly doesn’t enjoy on evaluation day.
Having no time for out of school activities will cause students to become over weight. Extended school days plus homework will also cause students to have no time for a social life. Students will have no experience and when it comes time to get a job they will have to speak to people and socialize but they would not have any experience. There are very few jobs that do not require socializing with other people and these jobs are probably not the job the student would want. With all of the many religions, teachers would not be able to cover all of the religions and the curriculum in the school year.
