Public Speaking Ali Alfaour Persuasive Speech Plastic Surgery In society today, people strive to achieve “Beauty”. Human beings are very greedy creatures. We always want to achieve our greatest in the shortest amount of time. One of the most painful yet quickest ways to get this so called “Beauty” is through cosmetic surgery. Negatives of plastic surgery: * It is expensive. (Range from $1500 to $10000) * Severe case of side effects. (Experts and even pro-cosmetics warn that the physical pain is quite severe. Back pain, bruises and so on.) * Later side effects. (Years after your surgery you will have to face the effects, which disfigure you.) * Infection, necrosis, wound separation, and blood clots. * Disfigurement and paralysis. * Many people expect too much. (Some get addicted.) Avoid becoming a victim of bad plastic surgery: * Make sure your surgeon is board-certified. This means that he or she has met the standards for certification that have been set by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. This lets you know that your surgeon is trained and experienced. * Be honest with your surgeon. Answer all the questions truthfully (Drinking, Smoking, Medications…) * Consider a specialist. * Listen carefully when the doctor explains the risks and complication that are associated with your surgery. (Read all the forms…) * Don’t always look for the cheapest prices. (When things are really cheap, there’s usually a reason) * Remember that there is always a risk, even if you follow all the steps and find the best surgeon. The purpose of my presentation is not to diminish all the positive things that cosmetic surgery has provided for people who have gone through an unfortunate event (car crash or burned would need plastic surgery to improve their appearance) but rather to shed light on the negatives that could
