Our major finding was that the bugs prefer the dry side over the wet side. Our results support the hypothesis. Pill bugs prefer land that is dark and dry. So when they get thirsty they move to the wet side to get a drink then head back to the dry side. Then they stay there until they become thirsty again.
Ditches were dug for the dead, they were pilled on top of each other until there was no room to fit anymore; and then another ditch was dug. Even though these people were terribly ill with a very contagious disease I believe they at least deserved a proper burial. I do understand that under the different circumstances they had no other choice, in order to keep the streets clean. I do have one question though, how was it that some were able to walk away from the Death unharmed? I guess it would be something like chicken pox, although this was very contagious before the doctors came up with a vaccine that assures children will not get it anymore.
Lack of equipment could’ve been one of factors that contributed to our errors. During this lab, we only had access to one spatula. Due to the lack of time we continued to use this one spatula despite the fact that it may not be cleaned properly and could still be dirty. The dirty spatula could’ve caused our results to be inaccurate because the different samples could’ve mixed causing the color of the flames emitted to vary. Another error that we made was due to lack of equipment once again.
Therefore the doctors were unable to treat each of the patients because they did not know what was happening and didn’t know how to fix it. The Black Death was so terrible because they could not stop it due to their beliefs and medical knowledge being undeveloped. They believed that diseases were caused by nature or sent by God and other spirits. To avoid the illness doctors suggested that you pray often that you ate a healthy diet and did regular exercise. They also try to treat each of the symptoms as opposed to the overall disease; they did this with their knowledge of the four humours and trying to keep them balanced.
Something that surprised me is that both of Gawande’s article connect. For example, in “Slow Ideas” he writes that a simple solution of sugar, salt, and water could eliminate cholera in Dhaka, but the solution wasn’t popular, many didn’t use it and people still died. Then, in “Big Med” Gawande writes that doctors know a solution for migraines, but doctors don’t use it or tell their patients about it. Here are ideas that could help people have a better living yet they are slow in being
Given that mycotoxins may have carcinogenic properties, you should immediately remove yourself from any black mold environment and have the spores professionally removed. Black Mold vs. Other Molds • All molds can potentially cause respiratory symptoms as the spores enter your lungs, but not all molds contain pathogens or mycotoxins. Some of the more common household molds, like Penicillium and and Cladosporium, are far less harmful and only pose a threat to asthma sufferers and people with respiratory conditions. The toxigenic molds, like Aspergillus and of course black mold, can pose a threat to
“Books tell people they can eat these plants, but they don’t tell them that there’s deadly poisonous plants that look exactly the same. It’s like playing Russian roulette.” Of course, it isn’t true, but the fear of wild plants
I believe this ancient remedy holds a lot of value and is not given the attention it deserves just like many other mind manifesting and cosmic substances. Our society needs to reevaluate the way we view our ‘most harmful’ drug class because it is absolutely warped and fallacious.” On a less consequential note, Professor Paul Babbitt believes that, “Unless a student has an illness that can be treated with medical marijuana, the passage of Proposition 5 is unlikely to have any effect on the SAU student body.” With these opinions and facts in mind, it is not necessarily important which way each person votes, but it is, however, ideal that students will be accurately informed before
Najey Mcduffie March 12, 2012 Biology/ Pd. 4 Mr. McMillian Methods In Which Tapeworms Survive The immune system is made from cells, proteins, tissues, and organs, it is supposed to protect people from germs and microorganisms (2). It usually does a great job at protecting people, but somehow the immune system is unable to detect the tapeworm. Although tapeworms have no digestive system of their own, they acquire nutrients from partially digested food, through their skin as it goes through the person they inhabit. Tapeworms can grow to be at least twenty-two feet in somebody’s body.
Caffeine is not good for Crohn’s disease patients nor is any sort of stimulant drugs. Any kind of raw vegetable or fruit can be harmful because of the acidic juices; seeds and nuts also irritate ulcers as they pass through the body. (CCFA) There are also some foods that can benefit people with Crohn’s disease. Doctors recommend taking slippery elm in the form of tea and to take enteric-coated capsules to relieve camping. Doctors also recommend breathing exercises and psychotherapy for emotional problems.
