Physical health: It allows me to stay in shape, so that I may be able to have to have the energy to perform normal every day activities like run around and play with my 4 year old. Social health: Going out with my friends at least twice a month and have “adult” conversations with them. Since I’m a stay at home mom who home schools my 4 year old I’m around her all day, which means I interact with her on her age level. It allows me interact with other adults in a stress free environment, lets me have a good time and I’m able to blow off some steam from my everyday life. Intellectual health: Having some down time for myself alone where I am allowed to relax and reflect.
Group B patients were treated with EMG Biofeedback assisted core stability exercise, showed better recovery than Group A which is supported by the study conducted by Moritiani and Devries(1979) hypothesized that use of biofeedback in recognition of facilitation pattern is responsible for increasing the work of motor neurons that helps in improving strength and endurance.8 Radebold A (2000) stated that to maintain stability of lumbar spine, muscle recruitment and timing pattern play an important role. So in Group B exercises emphasizing on EMG biofeedback assissted lumbar multifidus contraction were preferred which proved to yield better results as compared to Group A.9 Basmajian (1983) has proposed that subjects can control the discharging and recruitment of motor units using auditory and visual cues.10 One may hypothesize that the visual cues from the biofeedback unit enabled the group B to consciously and precisely control the exercise at sub maximal threshold level. Therefore one can conclude from the work of Basmajian that greater gains in Group B were gained rather than Group A where biofeedback was not
Children must be physically active at school and learn ways to stay healthy through exercise and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. All of this can be easily accomplished with the right fitness education program in an elementary school. A quality physical education program should consist of a school physical education class, recess, classroom physical activity breaks, after-school extracurricular activities and sports, highly trained physical education teachers, and a variety of equipment and space for students to use for physical fitness (Campbell, 2009). One of the many reasons why this type of program is so important in elementary schools today is because of the childhood obesity epidemic in the United States alone. According to the American Heart Association and American Stroke Association (2009), as these obese children get older, they are more likely than their healthy peers of having or dying from chronic diseases.
Many interventions are made by schools to help promote better health in children. This essay will look at three case studies and use them to show how effective these interventions are or are not. After studying them it became clear that there were four main interventions used by the schools to help promote better health in the children, these are exercise, education, food and health monitoring. The first two case studies look at two girls from different countries and we see what is similar and different about their school and home life. The third case study looks at a school that has had success due to a new headteacher implementing interventions.
Diane Gill, a professor at the University of North Carolina-Greensboro, focused on many key points in her interview. Her first point was why there is such an interest in exercise and sport participation. She explained the participants, who range from children to adults, and how physical activity promotes the health and overall well-being. Second, Gill explained some of the benefits of exercise and sport participation for the individual. The main benefit is the psychological and emotional aspect, in which exercise lessens depression and anxiety, and promotes general well-being.
- A netball player would use dumbbell bicep curls to strengthen the biceps and help improve shooting techniques as it would provide more strength to the ball. Shuttle runs would help improve footwork reactions and improve agility and endurance. Would also build strength in the leg muscles to provide more support for the body. Shooting practice would help improve accuracy and paired with the dumbbell bicep curls, more power would be executed to the ball. (M) In todays lesson we will be using SPECIFICITY in our training programme, can you identify 3 specific drills or exercises you have completed that relate to helping you improve in the game of netball.
Pilates has benefited me in numerous ways. It has benefitted my muscular system in that it has increased my core strength and added slight definition to my legs and arms. I am able to perform the core strengthening exercises for longer periods now and with better techniques as I have become accustomed to them and the muscles needed to perform them. When we first started doing Pilates in class my back was continuously hurting, but now my back muscles are tighter and my back hardly ever aches anymore. I also had problem with my shoulder and knees.
Lab File 1: Performance Profiling Performance profiling prioritizes and reflects upon components needed for performance. It was created from the ‘Personal Construct Theory’ and is used to develop profiled skills to enhance positive performance outcomes. (Butler, 1996, p.1) Four areas prioritized and reflected upon: 1. Muscle Strength is ‘the maximum force that can be exerted in a single voluntary contraction.’ (Koutedakis and Sharp, 1999, p.114) My contemporary feedback form highlighted core strength as an area in need of improvement as ‘the strength and coordination of the lower back, hip, and abdominal muscles are important in dance [and] conditioning these muscles can ensure strength in the centre.’ (Franklin, 2004, p.109) Another area in need of improvement is balance as muscle strength in the stomach and legs may help in this area. (Koutedakis and Sharp, 1999, p.114) 2.
Exercise drills will target the arms, legs, upper body, abdominals, and flattening the tummy (“Spice Up Your Workout”). Overall, muscles will equally be toned (Jackson). Fast reflexes are not required to participate in martial arts. However, reflexes will be formed and give a significant advantage. The reflexes formed from martial art training not only help with the activity but benefit all activities throughout the day.
When we exercise we are putting stress on our muscles, and also our bones, both groups work together to support whatever kind of lifting the body may be doing. Like muscles bones adjust their strength and flexibility depending on how much they are used and what daily tasks are being performed by the human. Exercise in moderation is very healthy for our skeletal system, and will enable people to live a healthier lifestyle. Also exercise is very beneficial for the future, for in old age people who have exercised regularly have a more comfortable lifestyle. Exercise is a vital component to keeping our body healthy for all of our life.
