Society in general, and women specifically, hold these images found in magazines as the standard of beauty, and frequently try to emulate the models therein. As a result, many people believe that the fashion industry has an obligation to promote healthy images of bodies via the use of healthy models. The “model” look has changed over time. This is due to the fact thought what society finds desirable has also changed drastically. And fashion, while often not intended for the masses, needs to sell.
Renaissance Clothing Renaissance was known as the “Golden Age” and also for its exquisite clothing. Men, women, and children wore clothing which was made out of silk, brocade, velvet, and cotton. Clothing had a significant societal importance because people could tell by your clothing if you were from the upper class or the lower class. Many people in hard times would pawn their clothes, even kings and queens were known to have pawned their clothes. In the Renaissance upper class women were known for wearing five pieces of clothing which were skirt, underskirt, bodice, underbodice, or vest, hoop and collar.
Hair growth varies from person to person based on genetic makeup, age, race, and even gender, so there's a lot of research available on this topic, and you can do some of it yourself. Convince several people of different ages, genders and races to take part in a study of how much their hair grows in a certain period of time, and include your findings in your paper. Tanning
In the past, the imprint from a person’s homeland was distinctive and obvious, you could tell where that person was from just by the way they dressed or acted. However, in current times mass culture and production have spread the epidemic of “likeness” across America. The media glorifies the mainstream products of clothing and ways of life, which most Americans today are consumed by. The people tuning into what Sanders refers to as “the global community” want to have the most popular products and be doing what is “cool” in today’s mass culture. This is affecting the regional differences because most of the people across America are wearing the same clothes and doing the same things.
People should conform for the betterment of society. If you fit into society, you don’t feel insecure. Nonconformity may lead to rebellion. Conformity goes along with the norm. Some other people might say that people should not conform but that is not true.
Clothing of the Elizabethan Era. Renaissance Fashion was the unique and bold plus it showed what social class you were in, also Shakespeare’s costumes had a big impact in fashion. People all over the world wear different types of clothing. Clothes today can range from expensive to non-expensive, sort of like back then. People today aren’t judged by what type of clothing they wear, but back then they were because it showed what rank they were in.
This type of conformity occurs due to pressure and wanting to not deviate from the group and therefore individuals “comply” with the group norm. The person would behave differently when not in the group setting in other incidences. Informational social influence occurs because when individuals are unsure themselves they turn to the group believing the majority to be genuinely correct in their assertions and behaviour. This is a form of internalisation because the individual would come to accept the groups view as their own and it would likely be repeated even without the influence of the group. This type of conformity is more likely to occur when the situation is ambiguous, there is a crisis or individuals believe other people to be “experts” and know more.
By being a part of a society or culture that one feels safe in or belongs in, it makes one feel connected mentally and physically. Nationality Individuality calls for separation from others. Some refuse to associate with others and only want to think for themselves. A person choosing to dissent from a culture or society and seek individualism, lose a sense of belonging and connection and the satisfaction of serving a cause above them. Individualism is not all bad.
This reason may be cultural, religious, spiritual, or simply cosmetic. Also, modifying the body does not always mean having a lip scalpeled for a labret plug, or stretching ears to an expanded size. It is also as basic as a young girl getting her ears pierced at the mall, a woman receiving a breast augmentation, an individual receiving botox injections, or even an elderly man dying his hair back to its youthful color. The practice of body modification surrounds us in everyday life; however, why someone would change his or her body is different in each scenario. Across the planet there are numerous examples of cultures modifying their bodies, be it an African tribe sporting lip disk, or an Alaskan tribe donning labret plugs.
Society’s view on certain groups of people has changed with time, but the way people perceive and stereotype others shows conformity to what others feel is correct or acceptable, although those perceptions may or may not be true. Stereotypes are these images or generalizations that have been given to groups of people to portray the way society views their actions, standard of living, or even the type person they are. These views of certain groups are merely just opinions or generalizations and do not represent all the people justly and can cause misconceptions of a person’s ability, personality, or just as a person as a whole. Of those misconceptions on certain stereotypes, the Hispanics have been portrayed as this figure in society that is seen as a lazy group not willing to work. Through research and what is seen in today’s world we see this stereotype being thrown around attempting to classify Hispanics, where in reality we see a growing number of Hispanics in the workforce.
