Verbally explaining and sending home copies of a homework policy would be appropriate for a second grade class. The periodic review of the policy and reinforcement would also be fitting in a second grade homework policy and promote positive social interaction. The reduction in grading for not turning in homework is not developmentally appropriate for second grade. The teacher-student-parent connection is also not continuously reinforced. Second grade home work policies should be focused on developing good study skills, habits and a regular home connection keeping families informed ("Research Spotlight on Homework").
The use of the day planner promotes self-motivation because the students are learning how to manage their time in school and at home to be able to complete their homework. This homework policy would be very useful in a second grade classroom because it encourages self-motivation as they can check off homework assignments when they get done. Second grade students would feel a sense of accomplishment as the tasks get checked off when they reach their goals. An ideal student should prefer a professor who demonstrates strict guidelines and who assigns adequate homework that is relevant to class discussion, as well as being approachable. These qualities of an excellent professor should be determined by serious, driven students who find these qualities mandatory. Most students go to class and hope for little homework, and a teacher that wants the same thing they do; to get in, out, and get on with their lives. That is fine if you do not intend to learn anything, but for the people who actually put forth the effort and wish to succeed, a strict professor would be a key ingredient in achieving their goal. When going to a class, one should hope for a professor with strict guidelines and grade policies in order to retain the knowledge necessary to excel in college.
Summary/ Response Assignment O`Malley, Patrick. “More Learning, More Testing” In “More Testing, More Learning,” Patrick O`Malley suggests that college professors should give tests to the students periodically in order for the students to learn more. Furthermore, more tests or exams will minimize the student’s stress because students will be more familiar with the subjects that are given to them. Like the author says, “If professors gave an additional brief exams at frequent intervals, student would learn more, study more regularly, worry less, and perform better on midterms, finals, and other papers and projects.” (O`Malley, pg. 488).
Though there is much difficulty in the courses, it is more important to gather the information learned in the course and learn strong techniques for work ethic. Many others believe that it is too stressful and demanding, but it provides the students with the challenge needed and the opportunity to be surrounded by peers with equal academic abilities. In regular courses, students with high academic capabilities are easily bored by the simplicity of the current course. They are not granted the challenge and often work with other students who cannot compare to his or her abilities. Advanced placement courses provide an exciting
Students can experience a more beneficial learning environment by having a longer school day. High schoolers in particular should always be learning and wanting to approach more opportunities. Also, having a better learning experience means having no stress from being really tired. When you are stressed, it can make you distracted and unfocused on your studies. If kids miss a day it will result in missing out on learning new things and they would need to make work up.
Hard work on a particular topic with full dedication and focus pertaining to his own fields of interest will surely make him achieve his goals. While coming to academics, both the intelligence and hard work comes into play very often. But, the harder they work, the more likely they will achieve greater academic success. Generally individuals with high Intellegence don't have to try that hard in school to get good or average grades; that is until high school and college. Hard work is something learned through being challenged and if a child is not challenged in their early years of education they will typically slack off in their high school and college years when hard work becomes key to success.
Every ones talking about cranky teens when in reality we are just over stressed and not getting enough sleep. These days it seems like teachers are having competitions with each other to see who can give the most homework therefore; students are having a hard time doing extracurricular activities and balancing homework all in one night. All of these issues have one cause to blame and that my friend is homework. And that is why as students, we believe that homework should be abolished. Life of a student is a very stressful one, as you drag yourself to school around 7:40 you desperately try to find friends that have completed a large sum of the mound of homework we were given the day before.
Without grades, how else would we assess and measure a student’s abilities in a practical way that can be used for this? Without grades every applicant would have to get brought in to an interview or something similar. This would take a lot of time and become extremely tedious. Grades are not only beneficial to students after graduation, but they benefit students and teachers during school as well. Grades are clear and distinct indications of how a student is performing in school.
