Estrada Year and Course: BEED-III My Philosophy of Education as a Grade School Teacher I believe that every child * Is intellectually gifted and is capable of learning. * Is a unique individual with different ways of learning. * Is naturally an attention seeker which is to be reinforced. * Can be influence by his environment but is self-directed. * Has a core set of personal values. I believe that there are values that is naturally within an individual and values that can be taught and can be learned and these must be passed on to every child by my modeling, value inculcation and value integration in my lessons. I believe that my task as a teacher is to facilitate the child’s development and bringing him to the optimum and to the maximum by: * Providing a classroom that is conducive to learning and an environment which develops him as an individual. * Helping every child to master the basic skills of reading, communicating in oral and written form, arithmetic and computer skills. * Having an environment which promotes security, belongingness and being a fair, equal and non judge mental teacher. * Strengthening the value formation of every child through “hands-on-minds-on” experiences inside and outside the classroom. * Letting the students participate or interact in the process or in every given activities and considering it as a means of learning. Building every child’s confidence. * Having a reward-punishment orientation in which every desired behavior must be rewarded and every misbehavior it must be punished. * Giving of activities that are according the child’s interest and on his learning styles. * Helping the child discover his talents, strengths and weakness and enhancing it to retain, this
