Belief about a Deity * God the father – “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” [Genesis 1:1] also for Design Argument * God the son – “And in Jesus Christ, his only begotten Son, our Lord” [Apostles” Creed] * God the holy spirit - “But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self control” [Gal 5:22] * Causation or Design Argument – “The Lord made the heavens” [1 Chronicles 16:26] * Nature of God - “...the heavens cannot contain him.” * Nature of God - Apostles” Creed Good and Evil * 'God saw all that he had made, and it was very good' (Gen 1:31) * 'I saw Satan fall like lightening from Heaven' (Luke 10:18) * 'For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive' (1 Corinthians 15:22) * ‘Love your neighbour as yourself’ (Luke 10:27) * 'For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life' (John 3:16) * 'Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you' (Eph 4:32) Key Ideas Different beliefs about God and Satan: Christians either reject God and are rejected from going to heaven, or they accept Him. Christians believe that God is the source of everything good and rules over heaven; the devil (Satan) is the epitome of everything bad, is the cause of everything bad that happens on earth and rules over hell. Christian responses to the problem of evil: The classical arguments of Ireneaus (Irenaean Theodicy) and Augustine (Augustinian Theodicy). Ireneaus argued that God did not make a perfect world and that suffereing was always included.
