Many of the injured individuals were injured by grenades, gaseous agents, bombs, or bullets. These weapons lead to missing limbs, broken bones, and the nurses seen blood every day. Hospitals were developed, medicines were created, surgical procedures, and even the ambulance all were developed during World War One. The individuals hurt severely had to have immediate care or they would die, and most of those hurt eventually died. In the field of medicine, physicians were familiar with Louis Pasteur’s germ theory and knew of Joseph Lister’s discoveries in the fields of bacteriology and antisepsis.
Rumors and claims of the hallucinogenic effects of Absinthe have been around for centuries, but there may be more myth than truth to the tale of the little green fairy. Through years of social and hard science research, many now agree no one really hallucinated from Absinthe; they were probably just hammered drunk. From bans to poems, Absinthe has captured the attention and livers of millions around the world. The Science Behind Absinthe Derived from grand wormwood (Artemisia absinthium) and anise (Pimpinella anisum), absinthe is highly alcoholic, far more than the commonplace drinks (mostly wine and beer) at the time of its inception. The original spirit form of the drink Absinthe was created in the late 18th century in a French-speaking quarter of Switzerland.
HIV/AIDS The effects of HIV and AIDS are deadly, and one of the most dangerous diseases in the world. Throughout the story line of Forrest Gump, HIV and AIDS aren’t directly said but they are heavily implied as Jenny, Forrest’s childhood friend and crush, goes through the hippie era and used various drugs and becomes very sick and dies young. Throughout the story line the director flashed between what was happening in Forrest’s and Jenny’s life. During these scenes it shows Jenny hanging out with her hippie friends and doing numerous amounts of drugs and even at some points it shows Jenny using dirty needles, which are most commonly associated with the contraction of HIV and AIDS. These scenes accurately line up with the events that occurred at home while soldiers were away fighting the war in Vietnam.

However not many of us Friends fans, including me (the all-mighty Friends fanatic), knows of Matthew Perry’s addiction to Vicodin. Vicodin is prescribed for moderate to severe pain.
Lately, this drink has received much attention from the media. People all around the country that have consumed the product are clamming that it has had many terrible side effects. These side effects include blacking out and even sometimes in extreme cases causing death. These claims have received so much attention by the media, that in the past few months, policymakers nation-wide have began taking action against Four Loko, by banning their products from the shelves. But we must ask ourselves is it really the product’s contents that are the problem or is it rather the policy-makers constructing the contents to be a problem?
Mr. Benoit's doctor is charged with improperly dispensing painkillers and other drugs to patients. He also is under investigation to determine whether he improperly prescribed drugs to Mr. Benoit. He had gone through drug treatment programs multiple times, but without success. In 1999 he explained to a judge that “It’s like I’ve got a shotgun in my mouth with my finger on the trigger, and I like the taste of the gun metal.” In May of 1996 while on parole, he trespassed into his neighbor’s home while under the influence of a controlled substance and fell asleep in one of the beds. Because of this, he was required to undergo compulsory drug testing and was sentenced to three (3) years of probation. Downey was arrested once more in 1999 for missing a required drug test. Despite having assembled the same team of lawyers that had successfully defended O.J.
Django received first and second degree burns over half his body, his right leg was paralyzed, and his left hand was so severly burned that the doctors believed that he would never play again. The doctors also wanted to amputate one of his legs but Django refused, shortly left the hospital and one year later was able to walk with the use of a cane. As something to occupy his time while he recovered, Django’s guitar playing brother Joseph bought Django a guitar. With a little practice he relearned how to play the instrument in a completely new way.
SAFETY The safety of athletes is usually very high on a sports agenda. Administrators make sure athletes eat right, drink right, sleep right, do the right things, but if PED were to be legalised the safety of all athletes could be compromised. How many of you here have heard about the steroid junkies of the 80’s? Well these guys used to take so many anabolic steroids over such a long period that they used to go on rages. They would get mad at everyone and everything and often get very violent and most often they ended up hurting others or even themselves.
By March 1977, the pain had intensified and he finally went to a hospital, where he was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a form of cancer that often starts near the knees.Terry Fox believed his car accident weakened his knee and left it vulnerable to the disease, though his doctors argued there was no connection. He was told that his leg had to be amputated. With the help of an artificial leg Terry Fox was walking in three weeks after the amputation. The Marathon of Hope began on April 12, 1980, when Fox dipped his right leg in the Atlantic Ocean near St. John's, Newfoundland, and filled two large bottles with ocean water. He intended to keep one as a memory and pour the other into the Pacific Ocean upon completing his journey at
