Morgan Sinclair Donna Thompson English 101 June 15, 2012 PETE ROSE FAIR, OR UNFAIR Pete rose is one of the greatest baseball players of all time. One could say since he owns the all time career hits he’s the best pure hitting in the history of the game. With his accomplishments on the field there is not a question he belongs in the hall of fame. Pete Rose nicknamed "Charlie Hustle", is a former Major League Baseball player and manager. Rose played from 1963 to 1986, and managed from 1984 to 1989. He earned this nickname due to the energy and hustle and all out ability he played to game with day in and day out. Rose, is the all-time Major League leader in hits (4,256), games played (3,562), at-bats (14,053) and outs (10,328). Pete rose won three World Series titles, three batting titles, one MVP award, two Gold Gloves, the ROY award, and made it to a astounding 17 All Star games. As you can tell by now the achievements of Pete Rose are eye-popping and are unmatched in the baseball world. His playing career was long and unmatched by any athletes today in any of the major sports. His playing career spanned from April 1963 to August of 1986, due to his hard work, knowledge and his supreme dedication to the game of baseball he was able to play at a high level for all of his years. This knowledge would help Pete Rose transition into the managerial side of the game once his playing days where done. After his playing career had ended Rose decided to get into being a manager for the team he spent most of his career with, the Cincinnati Reds. Rose managed the Reds from August 1984 to August 1989 with a 426–388 record. During his four full seasons as the manager of the reds 1985–1988, the Rose led Reds posted four second-place finishes in the NL West division. His 426 managerial wins rank fifth in Reds history.
