Persuasive Speech I. Introduction: A. Story The image the general public has about pit bulls is based on media bias and pure myth. They are not the monsters the media would have us believe. Of course we hear stories of pit bulls attacking people, but the same is true of all other breeds. When a dog of some other breed attacks someone it does not draw much media attention, but when it's a pit bull it's all over the news. This gives the public a false sense of security because it makes us forget about other dogs from different breeds that have a attacked and hurt people. B. This leads me to my topic, should pit bulls be banned? C. I am qualified to talk about this because 1. I have had several pit bulls throughout the years and not one of them was aggressive. 2. I have also done research about other dogs such as Labradors and German Sheppard’s who have attacked and killed people. If you do a search online about almost any dog, you will find some bad stories as well as good stories. 3. I know that you will come to agree with me because it is the owner that trains the dog and teaches them their behaviors not the other way around. D. My three main ideas are: 1. They are devoted to learning and listening to their owners. 2. Any dog will do what the owner teaches them to do. 3. They are very smart and can be trained as assistant dogs as well as an acting dog. II. Body A. Going back to my first main idea, pit bulls are devoted to learning and listening to their owners. 1. I have had my dog Lela for 8 years now and she is the best dog I have ever had. She is very loyal and always listens to me. 2. She is very protective of me, but if I tell her no she listens. Now that she is older she is not as nice to people but she will not attack or be mean to
