Defense Vs. Offence Lacrosse is one of the most interesting sports of all time. This sport requires you to have speed, endurance, and most importantly, skill. Lacrosse is a team sport played using a small rubber ball and a long handled stick called a lacrosse stick. There are ten players on each team, center, forwards, defenders, and the goalie. It is a full contact sport, which requires padding such as gloves, shoulder pads, elbow pads, and a helmet. The head of a lacrosse stick is strung with mesh in many different ways to catch and hold the lacrosse ball while playing. Offensively the intent of the game is to score by shooting the rubber ball into the opponent’s goal. Defensively, the objective is to keep the other team from scoring any points. Many factors can affect the outcome of the game. Lacrosse is a team sport; one player can rarely score a goal going down the field by themselves. In this game every player contributes to get the win. The defenders are usually not as popular as the forwards because they are not the ones who are scoring the goals and making big plays. There have been many games where the forwards have been unsuccessful in scoring any goals for their teams. The reason for this is the defense. When the defenders play their role properly in a game they can ultimately be the reason for the teams win. It is the defenders who do the job of winning the ball for their team and sending the ball across the field to their forward. It is also the defender who always covers the offensive player when they loose the ball and the opposing team takes possession to try and score.
