With each character having their own heroic qualities they can also be very similar. Batman unlike most superheroes does not hold any superpowers. His physical strength, wealth and martial arts skills help him fight his war on crime. Spiderman, on the other hand, has super strength with the ability to cling to most surfaces, shoot spider-webs and react to danger quickly. Superman uses his superhuman strength, speed stamina, freezing breath, super hearing and vision powers to fight off his enemies and to save his fellow citizens.
Clark, a.k.a Superman, adheres to a strict moral code, often attributed to the values with which he was raised. His commitment to operating within the law has been an example to many other heroes but has stirred bitterness among others. Some heroes refer to him as the "big blue boy scout." Superman can be rather unyielding in this trait, causing tensions in the superhero community, most notably with Wonder Woman , who is one of his closest friends, after she killed Maxwell Lord, because he was controlling
The head wave only takes a few seconds, but it kills everyone within a three-mile radius. People at more than three miles can still get unprotected burns. The typical superhero has to be masculine, a protector and attractive. These are evident the superhero film I will be looking at in this essay, the 2006 film ‘Superman Returns’. In this, Superman, played by Brandon Routh, is the same dark-haired and muscular character we recognise from the other adaptations of the famous comic book series. Superman is sometimes seen as the model for males, and presents the stereotype that the ideal man is very masculine, athletic and has to be a protector. There are several signifiers in the film that reinforce these ideals.

Spider man is a modern day epic hero because he possesses all the qualities an epic hero should. He is a regular human being that has spider like super powers that he uses for good purposes. He never hesitates to jump into action, even if the outcome could mean death. As long as he is doing what he believes is right he will do it. He is just, uncorruptable, kind, merciful, tolerant, and resolute. Take the best traits of man, assemble them together, and you’ll have Superman’s psychological profile.
In the article “Superhero Obsession: Why We Love Fantasy” by Jon Meyersohn the author is trying to argue that, despite the fictitiousness of comic books and the extent to comic book characters seem superior to normal human beings, comic book characters have proven to be some of the most influential sources of inspiration, either for good or bad. In the article it said that the Great Depression was the perfect time to give rise to one of the greatest superhero’s to have ever existed, Superman, the “Man of Steel”. It was during this time that Superman provided people with a symbol of hope that was desperately needed during a time of uncertainty and financial catastrophe. He became a hero who was fighting as a social activist, as a person who
