Persuasive Essay Uniforms do not create conformity Uniforms can be a contentious topic between parents and students, both having their own opinions on whether or not the student should wear school uniforms or not. The older students get, the more they do not want to wear uniforms. Teenagers seek to express themselves through their clothing items and feel that a school uniform literally suffocates their sense of style. School uniform do not create conformity, instead they bring out the individuality among us. Individuality is what sets us apart from other people. When I speak of individuality, it is meant to be a personality trait or a characteristic. It is what makes us different from the others around us and makes our existence distinct. This quality of being an individual is exactly what schools, as havens of self-discovery and development, should be encouraging most. The schools however, are now attempting to limit students' self-expression by implementing uniforms. By forcing students to wear the same outfits every day, teens look for other ways to express themselves. They start altering the uniform by rolling sleeves up, leaving the tie off, leaving a few extra buttons undone and adding accessories. Things like tattoos and piercings are not the most desirable form of expression for a young person to display. By making kids wear school uniforms, it discourages conformity as it brings out their personalities that are displayed through accessorizing their uniforms. By noticing the little things that may have been overlooked before, it makes everyone stand out even more as an individual. Even though all of the students may wear the same uniforms, each and every one of them has their own unique identity. To say that by wearing the same clothing can we create conformity is like saying all tigers are the same. All tigers have stripes yet not one tiger is like
