The study of personality through psychology has a broad and varied history, offering several theories that are best described by how a person’s personality is developed through experiences, environment, and genetics. There is no consensus for a psychologist to define personality, but most researchers take on the role of theoretical psychology in terms that are best defined in the many theories that can be found in the study of personalities. A more philosophical approach is taken when a psychologist studies the theories of personality. However, the study of personality is based upon the essential knowledge that all people are the same, yet different in other ways.

Running head: Personality Theories Personality Theories PSY/211 Personality Theories The existence of personality theories correspond to how scholars analyze and assess the development of human identity and behavior. Each viewpoint provides a specific understanding of what cultivates personality and the corresponding factors that influence such behavior.
