Individual work 1 week 5 “WHO IS AMERICAN” My answer to the question“Who Is American” before reading the article is, in my opinion, people who is born and raised in America. I Know that there are nationalities and ethnic groups who are or probably have parents from other countries but, it I feel if a person is born here are their families have been living in the US for sometimes now then you are American or have been Americanized. I know some people who are from other countries but have children that were born here and do not teach them the language of that country and the countries beliefs. So I feel that they will be considered American. I also feel people who believe in their rights and stand up for what they believe in and anything positive in the country of the United States will also be considered American. By people living different life styles and having different beliefs of religion. That is how national identity can be divided. In other countries, people there are the same and mainly have the same beliefs, in the United States; people from other countries are put and separated into different types of groups. That’s another reason for national identity being divided. National identity can also be united by other cultures living in one country like how it is in the United States. In the United States, people live next door to someone from another race or nationality. There are people who have different religious beliefs who have to shop at stores owned by people of a different type of religion. In our Society, (as in the United States) we are full of diversity; we can go try different types of foods from other countries. People can learn more about other countries and relate to them more if people learned more about one
