PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY PAPER By Donald Klein Leadership of Christian Educational Ministries PERSONAL PHILOSOPHY PAPER Key Mission and Outcomes of Effective Christian Education The primary mission as it pertains to Christian education could be summed up by the Great Commission found in Matthew 28:19-20. It is here that Jesus tells us to “go and make disciples of all nations” and to "teach them to obey everything that he has commanded".(New International Version, Matt. 28.19-20) When considering this, one could conclude that it is vital for Christians to take action in the call of reaching out to others for the sake of the kingdom of God. It is not uncommon for churches to simply open their doors and wait for people to enter into the buildings before they start to minister to them for their Christian education needs; however, one needs to take in consideration what Acts 1:11 says concerning the actions of the disciples after they watched Christ ascend back into Heaven. As the two angels appeared they asked the disciples "why do you stand here looking into the sky?" The disciples were reminded, that by the same way Jesus had just left, he would return.(New International Version, Acts. 1.11) As one would analyze this message, the conclusion would be that His disciples are not to be idle, but to be active tending to the spreading of the gospel. It could be interpreted that the message the angels were speaking was giving confirmation that Jesus will return, so we need to get busy. One result that is achieved is that it gives the church a driving purpose: "make disciples."(Himphill.10) It is the churches primary responsibility to teach and train people on how to be followers of Jesus Christ. The church must be ready to provide resources and efforts to effectively execute this
